The Parliament of Georgia supported a legislative package for holding international gambling tournaments in casinos
- The Parliament of Georgia has adopted in the first reading, under an expedited procedure, a bill that grants casinos the right to organize international gambling tournaments.
Publika+3 - An international gambling tournament will be considered a game in which at least 70% of the participants are citizens of a foreign country.
Interpressnews+2 - According to the initiative, tournament organizers will be exempted from the gambling business fee under certain conditions, while monetary fines will be established for violations of the rules.

The Parliament of Georgia supported the legislative package prepared by deputies of "Georgian Dream" in the first reading. As a result of the vote, 79 deputies supported the initiative, while 8 were against it. The changes are being introduced to the law "On Organizing Lotteries, Gambling and Profitable Games" and four related laws. Interpressnews+1
According to the Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee, Shota Berekashvili, the bills were prepared with the aim of perfecting the legal framework of the gambling business sector. According to Berekashvili, an international gambling tournament is not a gambling game in the direct sense, and its purpose is to promote the development of the tourism sector during non-tourist seasons. According to the bill, organizing an international gambling tournament will be permissible both at a facility organized with a casino permit and outside of it. If the prize fund of the tournament exceeds 3 million GEL and the club table is used only for this tournament, the organizer will not pay the gambling business fee. At the same time, an annual permit fee of 100,000 GEL is established for organizing the tournament. Interpressnews+2
The fine for violating the permit conditions will be 50,000 GEL, while organizing a tournament by an unauthorized person will be fined 150,000 GEL. The discussion of the legislative package in the second and third readings is scheduled for the plenary session on October 28. Interpressnews+2
