Statement by Pawel Herczynski following the publication of the European Union enlargement report

EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski called on the Georgian people not to lose hope after the publication of the 2026 enlargement report, as the country's future is in their hands alone. The diplomat emphasized that the European Union fully respects the free choice of the people, which, according to him, is the most obvious difference between the European Union and the Soviet Union. The ambassador stated that there are two messages regarding the current situation. According to him, the bad message is that due to the Georgian government's anti-democratic actions, legislation, and anti-European rhetoric, the country's European integration process has been halted. At the same time, Pawel Herczynski noted that the good message is that Georgia remains a candidate country and the European Union's door is open, and Brussels is ready for cooperation as soon as the government changes its attitude and returns to the path of European Union enlargement.
