The Ministry of Justice denies information circulated regarding the “Enka” case

Deputy Minister of Justice Beka Dzamashvili states that the report circulated in the media, as if a US court ordered the Georgian government to pay 400 million US dollars in favor of the company "Enka", is incorrect. According to the Deputy Minister's explanation, the case concerns the decision made by the Paris Arbitration in 2024, the annulment of which the Georgian government is seeking at the Paris Court of Appeal. The Washington court's decision concerned only the procedural part, because the party did not wait for the completion of the procedures underway in Paris. 1TV+3

According to Rustavi 2, the Paris court ordered Georgia to pay 383 million dollars in compensation in 2024, while "Enka" appealed to the arbitration due to the state's violation of investment conditions. The Ministry of Justice states that the Washington decision is subject to appeal and the state will continue to protect its interests in all jurisdictions.
