Colombian pop icon Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy have released “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, FIFA announced on Friday. The track, released via Sony Music Latin and now available on all major streaming platforms, blends Latin pop and Afrobeats in what FIFA called “a vibrant celebration of football, culture and unity”.fifa
Shakira first teased the song on May 7 with a one-minute clip filmed at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã Stadium, posting on social media: “From Maracaná Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026”. The title translates from Italian to “come on, come on,” and the chorus weaves together encouraging phrases in multiple languages, according to the BBC.apnews
“Dai Dai” marks Shakira’s second official World Cup anthem, following “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” at the 2010 tournament in South Africa. It joins four other tracks already released from the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album: “Lighter” by Jelly Roll and Carin León, “Por Ella” by Los Angeles Azules and Belinda, “Echo” by Daddy Yankee and Shenseea, and “Illuminate” by Jessie Reyez and Elyanna.espn
Royalties from the song will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million by the end of the tournament to provide children worldwide with access to quality education and football opportunities. Shakira is donating 100 percent of her royalties to the fund, and Sony Music has pledged to match the first $250,000 raised.apnews
The education initiative is part of a broader partnership between FIFA and the antipoverty organization Global Citizen. FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced that $1 from every World Cup ticket sold will also go toward the fund.instagram
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, kicks off on June 11 with the opening match between Mexico and South Africa at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will feature the first-ever World Cup halftime show, headlined by Madonna, Shakira, and BTS, according to the Associated Press.wsls
