Amazon confirmed on Monday at its annual Upfront presentation that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 will premiere on November 11, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video. The announcement puts to rest months of speculation about whether the fantasy epic would return before 2027.hollywoodreporter
The new season will jump forward several years from the events of Season 2, placing viewers at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron. According to the official synopsis, “the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war, bind all peoples to his will — and at last rule all Middle-earth”.ign
The Hollywood Reporter first reported in April that Season 3 was on track for a 2026 release, countering earlier expectations of a 2027 premiere. The November 11 date maintains the series’ two-year release rhythm — Season 1 debuted in September 2022, and Season 2 followed in August 2024.hollywoodreporter
Returning cast members include Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, and Robert Aramayo as Elrond. Joining them are Jamie Campbell Bower, known for Stranger Things, as a series regular, and Eddie Marsan of Ray Donovan in a recurring role. Bower’s character has been described as a “handsome high-born knight,” though specific details remain under wraps.deadline
Amazon renewed the series for a third season in February 2025, with filming commencing shortly after at Shepperton Studios in the U.K.. The announcement was part of a broader slate reveal at Amazon’s Upfront event, which also included a Season 5 renewal for Reacher. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay have previously indicated that the series is planned for five seasons.sarasotamagazine
