Prime Video dropped the final trailer for The Boys Season 5 on Wednesday, unveiling the central conflict of the show’s last chapter: Homelander’s pursuit of a substance that could make him immortal. The fifth and final season premieres April 8, 2026, with a two-episode launch, followed by weekly episodes culminating in the series finale on May 20.youtube
The trailer opens with Antony Starr’s Homelander declaring to his ally Firecracker, “My power is absolute. At heights no one’s even dreamed of. But I have a bigger destiny”. That destiny involves tracking down V1, Vought’s original iteration of Compound V. “If Homelander gets his hands on some, he’d be immortal,” scientist Sameer Shah warns Butcher’s crew in the footage.beebom
The trailer reveals Homelander breaking his father Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles, out of cryogenic sleep as he “prepares America for my ascension”. The footage also shows Homelander occupying the Oval Office, a natural escalation from the Season 4 finale in which he seized control of the U.S. government. On the other side of the war, Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher returns with superpowers of his own and a virus capable of wiping all Supes off the map.gamesradar
One of the most anticipated elements of the final season is a full Supernatural reunion. Ackles is joined by former co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, with showrunner Eric Kripke confirming all three actors share scenes together. “Having the five of us back together on set, filming, was just so fun and like a high school reunion,” Kripke told TV Insider, referring to himself, the three actors, and director Phil Sgriccia.tvinsider
The trailer also confirms that characters from the spinoff Gen V will play a role in the final season’s resistance against Homelander. Jessie T. Usher’s A-Train is seen alongside the titular rebels, and Godolkin University students including Marie Moreau join the fight. Kripke has said the Gen V characters “provide crucial assists, but it’s still about The Boys”.gamesradar
Karl Urban has warned fans to brace themselves. “From episode one you’re like, ‘Oh, wow,'” Urban told Variety. “Nobody is safe, fatalities from the get-go”. With Homelander chasing godhood and Butcher wielding a doomsday weapon, the final season appears set to deliver the most destructive chapter yet in the long-running war between Supes and the people trying to stop them.gamesradar
