K-pop supergroup BTS officially announced their highly anticipated return on January 3, confirming a March 20, 2026, release date for their fifth full-length album and an accompanying world tour. The announcement, made through handwritten letters delivered to fans’ homes and a dedicated countdown website, marks the group’s first full-group release in nearly four years after all seven members completed mandatory military service in South Korea.
BigHit Music revealed in an official statement on Weverse that the 14-track album represents “the first album released by the group in three years and nine months” since their 2022 anthology “Proof”. The label emphasized that “the members were deeply involved in the creation of the songs, infusing their own thoughts and colours into them while musically expressing the emotions and struggles they have experienced along their journey”.tribune
BTS delivered the news in an intimate manner, sending handwritten letters to Gold Membership fans’ homes featuring the date “2026.03.20”. RM wrote, “I have been waiting more eagerly than anyone,” while Jin said, “Thank you so much for waiting”. Jungkook’s message read, “I miss you! I look forward to this year as well,” and J-Hope noted, “Finally, what we imagined is becoming reality!”. The letters were prepared as gifts for fans who maintained their Weverse membership over the past three years.tempo
Simultaneously, the group launched a countdown website at 2026bts.com featuring tabs for “Album” and “Tour,” with a clock ticking down to the March release. The move came after BTS wiped their Instagram feed clean on New Year’s Eve, signaling a fresh start for the new era.mirchi
Following the album release, BTS will embark on a world tour, their first since 2019. BigHit Music confirmed that tour dates and venues will be announced separately on January 14 at 12 AM KST. Album pre-orders will begin on January 16 at 11 AM KST.indiatoday
The comeback became possible after the final member, Suga, completed his military service in June 2025. The seven-member group—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—announced their return plans during a July 2025 Weverse livestream that drew 7.3 million concurrent viewers.tempo
BigHit Music described the album as “packed with honest stories that BTS wants to share with ARMY, who have been waiting for their comeback as a whole group,” calling it “their heartfelt way of saying thank you to ARMY, who have been there this whole time”.indiatoday
