The 104-minute film chronicles the 20 days leading up to President Donald Trump’s January 20, 2025 inauguration. Amazon MGM Studios acquired the rights for $40 million in what has been described as the largest documentary deal in history.israelhayom
The documentary provides what Amazon MGM calls “unprecedented access” to Trump’s life during the transition period, following her between Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Trump Tower in Manhattan, and Washington, D.C.. The trailer features behind-the-scenes footage including preparations for the inaugural ball, the creation of her official portrait, and family moments with son Barron Trump and her father.foxnews
In one scene, Trump listens as the president rehearses his inaugural address. “My proudest legacy will be that of peacemaker,” he says, to which she responds, “Peacemaker and unifier”. The trailer concludes with a phone conversation where she tells him, “Hi, Mr. President, congratulations,” and when asked if she watched the election results, replies, “I did not. Yeah, I will see it on the news”.variety
Trump served as executive producer and was involved “in every aspect” of the film’s production, from creative vision to post-production marketing, according to sources familiar with the project. The documentary is directed by Brett Ratner, whose involvement marks his return to major Hollywood projects after facing sexual misconduct allegations in 2017, which he has denied.foxnews
Marc Beckman, Trump’s agent and senior advisor, led negotiations with Amazon CEO Andy Jassy beginning November 18, 2024. Disney, Netflix, and Paramount also competed for the rights before Amazon secured the deal.israelhayom
