According to the foundations, they submitted applications based on the law on grants, but the Georgian government rejected them on July 28, 2026. Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili rejected the information disseminated by the foundations. According to him, the government offered the foundations the continuation of educational or academic activities, but their interest lay in projects of a political nature. Papuashvili noted that foreign organizations must coordinate their activities with the Georgian government and added that public trust in foreign funding decreased after these funds were used to support a "radical political agenda."
