According to Sarjveladze, the strict regulations imposed about a year ago at the initiative of the Prime Minister brought the circulation of psychotropic medications under control, which limited commercial interests. The minister noted that the consumption of 17 out of 18 psychotropic drugs has approached the standards of the World Health Organization. Rustavi 2+4
According to Radio Tavisupleba, the discussion around the rule for prescribing psychotropic medications intensified after doctor Maia Kokhtashvili was arrested in Akhmeta on September 11 on charges of illegal prescription issuance. According to the same source, patients and doctors predicted even before the regulations came into effect that the 14-day supply rule would be a burden for patients. According to Netgazeti, the mentioned rule, which provides for the issuance of a prescription for adult patients once every 14 days, has been in effect since April 1. Radio Tavisupleba+1
