18 electoral lists are participating in the elections, competing for mandates in the 250-seat parliament. Some media outlets assess the elections as a confrontation between Aleksandar Vučić's "Serbian Progressive Party" and the "Student List." Aleksandar Vučić called the early elections. Imedi writes that Vučić resigned from the position of president in September, while Mtavari Arkhi and Interpressnews note that he left the post and is now running as a candidate for prime minister.
