Four people arrested in Imereti on drug crime charges

Employees of the Imereti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested four people. They are charged with illegal purchase, storage, sale, and facilitation of the sale of drugs in particularly large quantities by a group based on a prior agreement. Among the detainees are three foreign citizens. 1TV+4

Based on a judge's warrant, law enforcement officers conducted a controlled purchase of drugs from one of the detainees, which was secretly recorded. During the search of the accused individuals' persons and temporary residences, as well as from locations indicated by them, more than 2 kilograms of "methadone" and "marijuana" were seized. In addition, drug packaging materials and money presumably obtained as a result of the sale were seized as evidence. 1TV+3

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260, 260-ter, and 260-quater of the Criminal Code. These articles provide for a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment. 1TV+2
