Interpressnews+1Interpressnews+1Interpressnews+1Giorgi Chikvaidze's lawyer Tornike Migineishvili states that new evidence has been obtained that contradicts one of the main grounds for replacing Chikvaidze's bail with imprisonment on March 11, 2025. According to the defense, a report from an employee of the investigative body was submitted to the court, according to which, on the night of March 6 and at dawn on March 7, 2025, Chikvaidze was near the village of Sadakhlo and was attempting to cross the state border illegally. According to the lawyer, official data on mobile phone connections to base stations obtained within the framework of a private investigation indicate that during the specified period, the number used by Chikvaidze was registered in Tbilisi. The defense also states that additional materials point to the movement of Chikvaidze and Irakli Papiashvili in Tbilisi in places where their presence can also be verified by video cameras. The Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance has launched a separate investigation into the fact of an attempted illegal border crossing, within the framework of which money, watches, electronic devices, a car, and a mobile phone were seized from Chikvaidze and Papiashvili. According to Radio Tavisupleba, the prosecution justified the imposition of imprisonment not only by the attempted illegal border crossing but also by the violation of bail conditions and failure to appear at court hearings without a valid reason.
