1TV+31TV+5Formula+5Former Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili is publishing another letter from prison, in which he calls his imprisonment "politically motivated." According to him, the main goal of his arrest is his political neutralization, the discrediting of his reputation, and the destruction of his political future. Gharibashvili notes that due to his 20-year relationship with Bidzina Ivanishvili, he did not wish to enter into a confrontation and went to the "political slaughterhouse" without a word. 1TV+5
The former prime minister declares that he was initially promised a suspended sentence and a fine, but on January 4 he was unexpectedly informed that the conditions had changed and he had been sentenced to 5 years in prison. According to Gharibashvili, in February he received a message through an intermediary that the authorities were more damaged by his arrest than Gharibashvili himself. In July, he claims, the authorities demanded that he confess to new corruption charges in order to insure against the risks of his return to politics. 1TV+6
In the letter, Gharibashvili criticizes "Georgian Dream" and declares that the government is bringing back the governance methods of the "National Movement," thereby leading the country into "continuous chaos and an endless crisis." According to him, the actions of the authorities have confused the voters and created a sense of hopelessness in society. Formula+4
