InterpressnewsInterpressnews+1Interpressnews+1Former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili responded to the ongoing court process against him. According to Gharibashvili, he is being accused of something he never committed, and he calls the processes against him "political persecution" and "slander," which, in his assessment, is an insult to the country and the ruling party. There is a discrepancy regarding the source of the information: according to interpressnews, the letter was published on Gharibashvili's personal Facebook page, while according to mtavari-fb, the letter was released from prison. In his letter, Gharibashvili focused on his time as Minister of Defense. He noted that before 2020, "Georgian Dream" lost all elections in closed military precincts, but during his time as minister, in the 2020 parliamentary elections, the party received 85–90% of the votes. Interpressnews+1
Gharibashvili also spoke about the changes implemented in the defense sector, including the adoption of the new Defense Code. He noted that the so-called "Girchi project" was abolished and the reform of mandatory military service was regulated, according to which conscription is carried out only in the defense agency. According to the former Prime Minister, the goal of these changes is to prepare psychologically and morally trained reservists. Interpressnews
