1TV+2Rustavi 2+31TV+3The Iranian ambassador to Georgia, Ali Mojani, published information on social media, according to which the facade of the Iranian embassy in Tbilisi was illuminated with an image of Queen Ketevan. According to the ambassador, this is a symbol of historical memory, and he announced the publication of the results of his own research, which concerns both Queen Ketevan and historical documents preserved in Iran and Georgia. The ambassador noted that this will not be an official version, but rather a historian's personal vision, which aims to deepen mutual understanding between the two countries. 1TV+2
The ruling Georgian Dream party responded to the ambassador's statement with criticism. Member of Parliament Irakli Kadagishvili stated that the ambassador "should be kind enough" to perform his functions within the scope of his competence. According to him, the assessments and historical digressions made by the ambassador are irrelevant and do not fall within the context of relations between the countries, and even less so within the activities of the ambassador and the embassy. 1TV+5
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations Nikoloz Samkharadze advised the ambassador to remain within the framework of diplomatic protocol and to refrain from historical digressions, as this is not his business. Samkharadze noted that the difficult history between Georgia and Persia is a sensitive issue for any Georgian. In addition, deputy Aluda Ghudushauri stated that the Georgian people are waiting for a reaction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Radio Tavisupleba
