Irakli Kobakhidze noted that the government is conducting consultations with GNERC, but it does not have the right to make statements on behalf of the commission. The Prime Minister explained that the Constitution defines that the decision-making body is indeed GNERC. 1TV+3
In parallel, Parliament has adopted a law in an expedited manner that grants GNERC the authority to set different tariffs for household consumers based on the volume consumed for natural gas until January 1, 2038, and for water supply until January 1, 2036. The initiators of the law are deputies Shota Berekashvili, Giorgi Barvenashvili, Tornike Berekashvili, Levan Machavariani, Anton Obolashvili, and Irakli Mezurnishvili. Publika+1
According to the explanatory note, this change does not alter the fundamental principles of tariff regulation and represents a transitional mechanism aimed at reducing social risks and implementing tariff changes gradually among consumer categories. Publika
