Rustavi 2+1Imedi+1Rustavi 2The Constitutional Court is hearing the Georgian Dream lawsuit, which seeks the banning of five political parties. According to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Issues Archil Gorduladze, the parties are accused of violating the third paragraph of Article 23 of the Constitution. According to Gorduladze, these political forces are "closely connected to each other," have a unified ideology and "the same nature," which is why their consideration in one process is legally justified. For his part, Lelo-Strong Georgia leader Badri Japaridze noted that there is no precedent in the world for the simultaneous cancellation of five unrelated political organizations. In this regard, Gorduladze stated that while such an example does not exist, neither does one where "five parties together, closely connected, trample underfoot Article 23 of the Constitution of Georgia." At the session, Lelo representatives expressed distrust of the Constitutional Court. The party filed motions regarding the involvement of three Venice Commission experts and sending the lawsuit to the Strasbourg court for an advisory opinion. The chairman of the panel of judges did not satisfy the motions and called them unsubstantiated. Gorduladze assessed the mentioned demands as a "legal nonsense." Rustavi 2
