Sergo Metopishvili elected as Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court

At a session held on October 20, 2026, the Plenum of the Constitutional Court of Georgia elected Sergo Metopishvili as Deputy Chairman by a majority of votes as a result of a secret ballot. The Plenum also approved the new compositions of the court's collegiums. The First Collegium includes: Vasil Roinishvili (Chairman of the Collegium), Eva Gotsiridze, and Goga Kikilashvili. The Second Collegium includes: Giorgi Tevdorashvili, Sergo Metopishvili, and Giorgi Modebadze. Netgazeti+4

Before entering the judicial system, Sergo Metopishvili worked in the Prosecutor's Office, and from July 2025, he was a judge of the Investigative Collegium of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals. Non-governmental organizations consider him a member of the so-called clan existing in the judicial system.
