UEFA announced the match schedule for this season’s Champions League semi-finals on Friday, bringing forward the publication to give clubs, fans, and broadcasters additional time to prepare for the final stages of the competition. The first legs will take place on April 28 and 29, with the return fixtures on May 5 and 6, all building toward the final at Budapest’s Puskás Aréna on May 30.uefa
“To provide more clarity and allow for better planning and preparation for clubs, fans, and all other parties, the Union decided to bring forward the publication date of the Champions League semi-final match schedule,” UEFA said in a statement.elbotola
The semi-final pairings, determined by the bracket drawn in February, will see the winner of Paris Saint-Germain versus Liverpool face the winner of Real Madrid versus Bayern Munich on one side. On the other, the winner of Barcelona versus Atlético de Madrid will meet the winner of Sporting CP versus Arsenal.worldsoccertalk
The quarter-final first legs are set for April 7 and 8, with second legs on April 14 and 15. Should PSG or Liverpool advance, their semi-final first leg will be on Tuesday, April 28, with the return on Wednesday, May 6 — an eight-day gap between matches. On the other side of the bracket, the Barcelona/Atlético or Sporting/Arsenal winner will play on Wednesday, April 29, with the second leg on Tuesday, May 5, leaving just six days between fixtures.uefa
The compressed timeline has already prompted domestic league adjustments. France’s Ligue de Football Professionnel moved the Lens versus PSG fixture to May 13 to comply with UEFA regulations requiring that postponed matches be completed before the final two rounds of domestic competition. The scheduling also means that whichever club emerges from the PSG-Liverpool quarter-final will face their semi-final first leg just three days after a league fixture.elbotola
The quarter-finals promise blockbuster encounters. Real Madrid eliminated Manchester City for the third consecutive season in the round of 16, while PSG dismantled Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate and Bayern Munich routed Atalanta 10-2. Barcelona and Atlético will meet for the sixth time this season across all competitions when they face off in the quarter-finals.espn
