Foo Fighters confirmed their return to major touring Wednesday with the announcement of a 12-city North American stadium tour for 2026, marking their first extensive trek since the band’s hiatus following frontman Dave Grohl’s personal scandal in 2024. The announcement coincided with the release of their new single “Asking for a Friend,” the band’s second original song of 2025.loudwire
The “Take Cover Tour” kicks off August 4 at Rogers Stadium in Toronto and concludes September 26 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with Queens of the Stone Age providing support on all dates except the September 12 show in Fargo, North Dakota. Additional supporting acts include Mannequin Pussy and Gouge Away on select dates.loudwire
“‘Asking for a Friend’ is a song for those who have waited patiently in the cold, relying on hope and faith for their horizon to appear,” Grohl said in a statement. “Searching for ‘proof’ when hanging by a wish until the sun shines again. One of many songs to come.”consequence
The new track takes a darker, more intense approach than their previous 2025 single “Today’s Song,” building from hypnotic verses to explosive refrains with Grohl howling “What is real? I’m asking for a friend?”.loudwire
This tour marks the first major outing with drummer Ilan Rubin, who joined the band after Josh Freese’s dismissal in May 2025. The drummer swap also saw Freese return to Nine Inch Nails, his former band, while Rubin left NIN to join Foo Fighters.variety
The band had been largely out of the public eye since September 2024, when they entered what sources described as an “indefinite hiatus” following Grohl’s admission of fathering a child outside his marriage. Their return began with surprise club shows in September 2025, starting with an intimate performance at the 900-capacity Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California.hindustantimes
“Since our return to the stage in San Luis Obispo five weeks ago, we have been reminded of why we love and are forever devoted to doing this Foo Fighters thing,” Grohl said. “And the sun is finally rising over the horizon.”ultimateclassicrock
Tickets go on sale to the general public October 31 at 10 a.m. local time, with presales beginning October 28 for newsletter subscribers and October 29 for general artist presales. The band’s previous “Everything or Nothing at All” tour in 2023-2024 sold 862,523 tickets and grossed $103.5 million across 31 shows.ultimateclassicrock
