Tottenham Hotspur have reached a verbal agreement with Igor Tudor to serve as interim head coach until the end of the season, according to Sky Sports. The 47-year-old Croatian, who was most recently in charge at Juventus, is expected to be in place when players return to training on Monday ahead of the north London derby against Arsenal on February 22.skysports
The appointment comes three days after Tottenham sacked Thomas Frank following a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United that left Spurs 16th in the Premier League, just five points above the relegation zone. Frank, who was appointed in June 2025 as Ange Postecoglou’s successor, departed with the club having won only two of their last 17 league games.espn
Tudor brings a reputation for stabilizing struggling sides during short-term spells. At Juventus, he was appointed in March 2025 after the club dismissed Thiago Motta and guided them to fourth place and Champions League qualification with five wins in nine Serie A games. He was given a three-year contract but was sacked in October after an eight-match winless run.theguardian
The Croatian had a similar impact at Lazio in 2024, taking over from Maurizio Sarri in March and winning five of his nine games to secure Europa League qualification before resigning at the end of the season.skysports
Spurs considered former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic and ex-RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose before settling on Tudor, according to The Guardian. The club is seeking a manager with the ability to make an immediate impact as they battle to remain in England’s top flight.mirror
Tudor’s interim status leaves the door open for a potential return of Mauricio Pochettino, who remains a popular figure among Tottenham supporters. Fans chanted the Argentine’s name during the Newcastle defeat.espn
Pochettino, who led Spurs to the 2019 Champions League final during his five-year tenure, is currently managing the United States men’s national team on a contract running through the 2026 World Cup this summer. Reports from The Athletic indicate he will remain in charge of the USMNT through the tournament before any potential move could materialize.profootballnetwork
Tudor’s primary objective will be keeping Tottenham in the Premier League. His first match in charge comes with immediate pressure as Spurs host table-topping Arsenal in the north London derby next Sunday.theguardian
