Nvidia Confirms Sufficient AI Chip Supply Despite Ongoing Constraints

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Tuesday the company has secured enough supply to support “very, very robust growth” in both GPUs and CPUs, while acknowledging that supply limitations have not been fully resolved.

“We’ve secured supply for very robust growth of all of those systems,” Huang said at a press conference during Computex week in Taipei. “We have supply for very, very robust growth, but we’re still supply constrained.”whbl

The remarks from the head of the world’s most valuable company come as demand for AI semiconductors continues to outpace available capacity across the industry.

Taiwan at the Center

Huang, who was born in Taiwan’s southern city of Tainan, reiterated the company’s commitment to investing approximately $150 billion annually in Taiwan, which he has called the “epicentre” of the AI revolution. The investment represents a dramatic increase from the $10 billion to $15 billion range Nvidia was spending in Taiwan just four to five years ago, according to Reuters.reuters

Nvidia plans to break ground this year on a new office complex called Constellation in Taipei, expected to employ 4,000 people when it becomes operational in 2030. Huang described Taiwan as a strategic partner for the United States because the island is investing in U.S. manufacturing, and said Nvidia would continue to make its supply chain “as resilient as possible.”cnbc

Vera CPUs and Shareholder Returns

During his keynote address on Monday, Huang named OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceX, and Oracle as among the first major customers for Nvidia’s new Vera data center CPUs, which are set to enter full production in the third quarter of this year. Vera, built on 88 custom Nvidia-designed Olympus cores, offers 50% faster per-core performance compared to the Grace CPUs used in current Blackwell systems.thenextweb

“This is going to be our new major growth driver,” Huang said of the Vera CPU, adding that it could eventually prove even more popular than the company’s GPUs due to its role in processing information for AI workloads.whbl

Huang also reaffirmed Nvidia’s plan, first announced at GTC in March, to return at least 50% of its free cash flow to shareholders this year through buybacks and dividends. During fiscal 2026, which ended in January, the company returned $41.1 billion to shareholders.mexc
