Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced on Wednesday that the company plans to invest approximately $150 billion a year in Taiwan, calling the island the “epicentre” of the artificial intelligence revolution and predicting it will remain the world’s technology manufacturing hub for the foreseeable future.
“Four or five years ago, Nvidia was spending about 10, 15 billion dollars a year in Taiwan. Now we’re spending 100, going to 150 billion dollars in Taiwan each year,” Huang said at a launch event in Taipei for the company’s forthcoming Taiwan headquarters, according to Reuters.yahoo
Huang unveiled “Nvidia Constellation,” an expanded campus to be built in the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park in northern Taipei, designed to house roughly 4,000 employees. The company said it would quadruple its workforce in Taiwan to reach that figure. Construction is set to begin this year, with operations expected by 2030.nikkei
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an joined the celebration, presenting Huang with a key to the city. “The world is watching NVIDIA shape the future of AI,” the mayor told attendees.nvidia
The spending commitment underscores Taiwan’s dominance in AI hardware manufacturing. The island is home to TSMC, which fabricates Nvidia’s most advanced chips, and Foxconn, which assembles its AI server systems. Huang noted that each of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems consists of nearly 2 million parts produced by 150 ecosystem partners in Taiwan.nvidia
Nvidia’s annual expenditure in Taiwan now rivals the GDP of many mid-sized economies, reflecting the concentration of advanced semiconductor production on the island. TSMC reported April 2026 revenue of 410.73 billion New Taiwan dollars, with year-to-date revenue up nearly 30 percent from a year earlier.sahmcapital
Huang’s keynote address at Computex is scheduled for Monday, June 1, at the Taipei Music Center, where further product and partnership announcements are expected.nvidia
