A widespread internet disruption rippled across some of the world’s most-used platforms on Monday, June 22, after Cloudflare, the infrastructure provider whose network carries roughly 20 percent of global web traffic, reported increased error rates and latency across multiple services.
X, Reddit, Zoom, Discord, Canva, Fortnite, and the Epic Games Store were among the services users reported trouble reaching, according to Downdetector data and reports compiled by multiple outlets. On Cloudflare’s status page, the company said it began investigating “increased error rates and latency in multiple services” at 13:35 UTC, with the incident affecting its CDN, cache, analytics, and Durable Objects systems. By 14:37 UTC, the company said the issue had been identified and a fix was being implemented.vedomosti
The outage hit hardest in the United States, the United Kingdom, India, Australia, Canada, and Germany. On X alone, more than 35,000 users filed disruption reports on Downdetector at the peak around 7:38 p.m. IST (roughly 10:08 a.m. ET), according to India Today. USA Today reported that more than 15,000 U.S. users logged complaints just before 10 a.m. ET, with the highest concentration along the East Coast in cities including New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C.. Users described blank timelines, app crashes, login failures, and error messages reading “Something went wrong. Try reloading”.indiatoday
Monday’s disruption marked the second consecutive day of instability for Elon Musk’s social media platform. On Sunday, June 21, Downdetector recorded approximately 2,600 reports of problems around noon ET. Whether the two incidents share a common cause remains unclear; X had not issued an official statement on either outage as of Monday afternoon.indiatoday
Separately, Cloudflare had scheduled maintenance at its Newark, New Jersey, data center beginning at 01:00 UTC on June 22, warning that traffic might be rerouted and users in the region could experience “a slight increase in latency”. The company did not immediately clarify the relationship, if any, between the scheduled maintenance and the broader service incident.cloudflarestatus
The episode is the latest in a string of Cloudflare-related disruptions over the past year. In November 2025, a configuration-file bug caused what the company called a “significant outage,” knocking out access to X, ChatGPT, and other services for several hours. In February 2026, a separate incident involving Cloudflare’s Bring Your Own IP service withdrew customer routes from the internet for more than six hours. Cloudflare has said it handles traffic for millions of websites and applications, making any interruption to its network felt far beyond its own customer base.bbc
