Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang confirmed during his visit to Seoul that the company’s upcoming Vera data-center CPU will use DRAM from SK Hynix, adding a new product dimension to an already expanding partnership between the chipmaker and South Korea’s memory giant.
“We introduced Vera CPU, which is a revolutionary CPU, and it will also use SK Hynix’s DRAM,” Huang said, according to Bloomberg. The announcement came as both companies prepare to formalize a broader cooperation plan on Monday, June 8, following a meeting between Huang and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won.reuters
The Vera CPU DRAM confirmation builds on an already deep relationship. SK Hynix began mass production in April of its 192GB SOCAMM2 memory module designed specifically for Nvidia’s Vera Rubin AI platform. The company is also estimated to supply approximately 60 to 70 percent of the HBM4 high-bandwidth memory for the Vera Rubin AI accelerator, according to analyst estimates cited by Investing.com.yahoo
Huang arrived in Seoul on Friday, June 5, his second visit in seven months, and has held meetings with leaders from Samsung, SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and LG. On Sunday evening, following a fried chicken dinner with Chey, Huang told reporters that Nvidia and SK are collaborating across “AI supercomputers, CPUs, new PCs, and robotics,” adding, “We are here to strategize, and perhaps we will have some announcements tomorrow”.businessinsider
The partnership reflects a broader industry reality: AI-driven memory demand has outstripped supply. Micron business chief Sumit Sadana told CNBC earlier this year that the company was “completely sold out for 2026,” while TrendForce projected DRAM prices would rise 50 to 55 percent in the first quarter. Huang himself said during his Seoul visit that memory shortages would persist for years.gate
SK Hynix’s stock has been a primary beneficiary of this dynamic, gaining roughly 146 percent since January on the Kospi, fueled by record quarterly revenue and its dominant position in HBM supply. The company is also pursuing a U.S. stock listing through American Depositary Receipts to raise up to $14 billion for fabrication expansion.evrimagaci
Monday’s expected announcement between Nvidia and SK will further detail the scope of collaboration that now spans memory chips, data-center CPUs, telecommunications, and robotics.joins
