Nvidia’s RTX Spark Superchip Rattles PC Chip Rivals, Lifts Shares

Nvidia sent shockwaves through the semiconductor industry on Monday after its unveiling of the RTX Spark superchip — a new Arm-based platform designed for AI-powered Windows PCs — pressured shares of Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm while lifting its own stock.

The announcement, made by CEO Jensen Huang at Computex 2026 in Taipei, marks Nvidia’s first direct push into the PC processor market, where it will compete head-on with companies it previously partnered with. Nvidia shares rose sharply on the news, while Qualcomm fell roughly 6%, Intel dropped around 4%, and AMD declined approximately 3%, according to Barron’s and Business Insider.barrons

A New Front in the Chip War

The RTX Spark superchip pairs an Nvidia Blackwell RTX GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores to a 20-core Nvidia Grace CPU via NVLink chip-to-chip interconnect. Nvidia developed the platform with Microsoft over three years, and laptops from Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, and MSI are expected this fall.nvidia

“Running agents securely and privately requires hardware that’s up to the task,” Nvidia said in a statement. “RTX Spark brings NVIDIA’s 30 years of technology innovation to slim Windows laptops with all-day battery life and ultraefficient desktop PCs.”businessinsider

The move transforms Nvidia from a GPU supplier into a full-system competitor. “The knee-jerk reaction is this Nvidia move will strike at the heart of the PC business at Intel and AMD,” said Chris Versace of TheStreet Pro. “It will also make the move into the PC market by Qualcomm far more challenging.”businessinsider

South Korea Expansion

Separately, Huang hosted a “Korea Partner Night” on June 1 in Taipei, meeting executives from Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Hyundai Motor, LG Electronics, and Doosan to expand AI and robotics partnerships. Speaking to South Korean journalists, Huang identified robotics as a key investment area for the country and said Nvidia would be willing to host its GTC conference in South Korea. He is expected to arrive in Seoul on June 5 for further meetings.yna
